Everett Spruill : Statement of Artistic Direction (1) "The Tribal Rhythms Series", is an interpretation of traditional African mask, sculptures and symbols. (2) "The Old School Jazz and Blues Series" is a tribute to the founders and legends of Jazz and Blues. Each series illustrates the rich and varied social, religious and artistic traditions of Africa, its impact on the world of modern art, and its role in the birth of America's own- Jazz and Blues.. Hopefully these two bodies of work will enhance one's appreciation and understanding of these great art forms and the people they represent. |
